<概要/Course Content Summary>
Advancement of information technology (IT) has rapidly changed our way of life. While IT encompasses technologies such as television and telephones,it is most commonly used as a synonym for computers and computer networks. This course is intended for students with no or very little background in computers, and will provide the basics of computers and computer networks. The students will acquire knowledge about basic software that would be required in an academic setting (i.e., word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software). In class and homework exercises will allow students to get a hands-on experience with various software. In each class, the instructor will provide a lecture on the day’s topic. A worksheet will then be handed out and the students will work individually or in a group to complete the day’s task. A wrap up discussion will follow ; the students are expected to participate actively in the discussions. Students will have homework exercises covering the day’s topic and a reading material to prepare for the next class.
<到達目標/Goals,Aims>
Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to: - identify the parts of computers / computer networks - describe briefly how computers / computer networks function - operate basic computer software - generate simple programs
