This course is designed to promote a better understanding of technologies related to advanced optical communication engineering.

Through this class,you will understand theory of the following topics and will be able to manipulate the devices for optical communication systems. 1) Dielectric polarization,dispersion, loss and optical nonlinearity 2) Propagation of electro-magnetic wave in dielectric material and various types of waveguides 3) Principle and examples of light sources,optical amplification,and photo detectors 4) Reflection and refraction,interference,and state of polarization 5) Optical components for optical communication systems 6) Measurement techniques of electrical and optical signals
