<概要/Course Content Summary> More than 10 million species are living on our earth. Although 70 billion human with highly developed culture are living on earth, human, Homo sapience, is not only one species. Since we cannot synthesize any organic matters, we must eat various macromolecules that are produced by other organisms, and metabolize them into small molecules. To get energy necessary for the maintenance of our life from metabolized small molecules, oxygen produced by plant and algae is definitely necessary. On the contrary, organisms occasionally give damage to human health by infection. To increase the production efficiency of products that are produced by other organisms, we are developing new reproductive technologies and genetic manipulation. But such new technologies, biotechnology, occasionally give anxiety to our society. <到達目標/Goals,Aims> In this course, we learn the biological characteristics of organisms to understand human, and the present status of biotechnologies. <授業計画/Schedule>
