<概要/Course Content Summary>
This course will systematically study and debate some of the key contents of the important and fully updated IR textbook: The Globalization of World Politics - An Introduction to International Relations (8th Edition), Edited by John Baylis, Steve Smith and Patricia Owens, Oxford University Press, 2020). No prior knowledge of International Relations is necessarily required nor expected. The course will include the opportunity to access an unrivalled coverage of history, theory, structures, processes, and international issues, prior to, during and following WWII, up to the present day, by over 30 leading international scholars. State of the Art online resources are included to support both IR lecturers and their students.

Students will deepen and develop their critical reading, writing, thinking, discussion, presentation, and research skills. By the end of the semester, their knowledge and understanding of the above will have been increased and enhanced, as will their ability to comprehend and make informed judgements about some of the key concepts and problems of International Relations in the Post War Era.

"On-going" Research Journals and Mini-Presentations

Small groups will be convened on a weekly basis to present and discuss self-researched materials pertaining to current international relations and affairs, and to link these with the history and theory presented in the core textbook and supplementary materials. (Journals will be submitted to the instructor for assessment every few weeks.)

Coursework Essays and Notebooks

|
Deadlines for short, coursework essays and notebooks (in which students make notes from their textbook and associated readings, class lectures/discussions and essay outlines, glossaries etc.) will be announced in class.
