＜概要/Course Content Summary＞
本コースは「日本の文化特講A」をさらに深めるコースと考えられ，神道と禅仏教を基礎とした日本の伝統文化についての理解をよりすすめる。特に，講義だけではなく学生の積極的な意見交換や，日本の伝統的な身体文化を実際に体験することに重きをおく。
第一に神道を概観しその起源，思想，神社の成立，巫女の歴史，神道と祭り，音楽，武道について学ぶ。さらに，神道と言霊思想について学んだ後，古代文字での書道体験をする。
第二に，日本における仏教の発展を概観する。さらに，日本の禅仏教の展開と，その広範囲に及ぶ文化的事象について知る。禅仏教の歴史と思想，ことば，禅と茶道について学ぶ。禅文化の体験として，臨済宗の和尚を訪ねて坐禅体験をする。これらの身体文化の体験を通して日本文化の特性を学ぶ。
This course is considered as a continuation of "Special Topic in Japanese Culture A" and will deepen understandings of Shinto and Zen Buddhist traditional Japanese culture. Particular emphasis is placed on experiential learning of culture through traditional activities.
First, students learn about the origins Shinto; as well as Shinto thought; the period of shrine establishment; histories of the shrine maiden, rituals, music; and the relationship between Shinto and the martial arts.
In addition, as a cultural experience of Shinto, students learn about the ancient characters of Shinto writing (Kodaimoji) and experience calligraphic writing of such.
Second, students receive a general overview of the development of Buddhism in Japan. In addition, they learn about the development of Japanese Zen Buddhism and its wide range of cultural influence. Students will come to know more about the history and thought of Zen Buddhism, its words, the relationship between Zen and Tea ceremony, and Zen painting. As an experience of Zen culture, we visit a Zen temple, and practice Zazen.

神道と禅仏教の精神性を背景とした伝統文化について関心を持ち，理解できる。さらに，与えられたテーマについて感想を述べ，ディスカッションができるようになる。また，自国の文化との共通点と相違点を見出し発表できるようになる。
Be interested in and understand traditional culture with Shinto and Zen Buddhism.In addition,students should be able to express their thoughts and discuss the given theme.Furthermore,be able to identify and show similarities and differences with the culture of their country.
