<概要/Course Content Summary>

This course will be offered mainly as video lectures uploaded in E-CLASS and a few live Q and A sessions in ZOOM.

Individuals and organizations are faced everyday with the need to make choices while interacting with one another through market transactions or community interactions. For example, as consumers, we make choices on products and services we purchase and, as workers, we make career and job choices as well. Companies make decisions on the features, quality and prices of products and services they provide. Governments make decisions on policies that directly or indirectly affect consumers and organizations at a given society. In order to gain a better understand of modern societies, it is important to understand the basic mechanism through which economic agents make choices and interact in the economy. This course introduces students to the field of economics and business focusing on demand, supply, markets and economic policies.

<到達目標/Goals,Aims>

In this course, students will learn the basic concepts and theoretical frameworks used in economics and business while assimilating the way economists think. By the end of this course students will be able to understand the basic mechanism on which market economies work and to analyze current issues in economics and business.
