<概要/Course Content Summary>

This course will introduce students to the central theories and challenges of peace and conflict studies. We will address issues of violence and non-violence, peace education, UNESCO's Culture of Peace, security, conflict resolution, nationalism, human rights and gender perspectives related to peace and conflict. Multiple approaches to these issues will be gained from key critical studies of peace and conflict during the course. During the online period students will be asked to submit a weekly journal of responses to the texts and responses to the questions of inquiry. It is essential for all students to complete all readings before class.

<到達目標/Goals,Aims>

The intended objectives of this course are for students to develop capacities to critically analyse and explain clearly the complexities of peace and conflict studies. Students will gain insight into these complexities from partaking in this course as well as developing the knowledge, skills and values associated with peace studies and peace education. The course will facilitate and promote reflective and critical thinking capacities as one of its key purposes.
