<概要/Course Content Summary>
This class integrates what was learned in Communication in English 1, 2 and 3, and encourages you to use all language skills to express your opinions about current controversial issues. The objective of this course is to give you the basic tools to construct logical, accurate, well-structured, and respectful arguments related to present-day topics. Since –unfortunately, due to the situation of public health– this class will be carried in an on-demand, online format, we will not have the chance to have face-to-face discussions. However, we will practice written forms of argumentation that might help you become more articulate. I encourage you to make use of your previous knowledge, to find your own opinion, to base your opinions on facts, to be a critical listener/reader, and to find a new, creative and individual perspective to the topics discussed in this class. All material (reading material, listening exercises) and tasks (mini-tests, reports, compositions), as well as the contact with me and will all other members of this class will be done through MICROSOFT TEAMS. Please make sure you have access to our “Communication in English 4-2” team. If you have any problem with this, please contact the Helpdesk or email me.

<備考/Remarks>
Every week, there will be a new reading material and a new PowerPoint presentation with voice recording uploaded to Microsoft Teams. The reading will give you information about each of the topics, and the PowerPoint presentation will provide ideas for discussion and explain the order of the class. Please read the material thoroughly, and follow the indications in the PowerPoint file. When you have done so, you will be asked to write your opinion about a specific question. Every other week, you will be asked to discuss (agree or disagree) with another student’s opinion about a previous topic. You will have to do this in written form. All of these activities and materials, as well as instructions, will be provided through Microsoft Teams. I will be available for questions on the Teams chat from 11:00 to 12:15 on Mondays.
