＜概要/Course Content Summary＞

This course introduces students to major international environmental issues and provides conceptual tools for understanding the politics of the global environment. By examining the actors, interests, and institutions related to global environmental politics, we will explore a variety of questions such as: Who can solve global environmental problems? Why is it so difficult to develop effective international institutions to protect the environment? How are environmental issues related to globalization and other forces?

This course has two main goals. First, I want to introduce the major concepts, theories, and topics in the study of international environmental politics. Second, the course aims to increase understanding of current international environmental issues and to encourage analytical thinking.

＜成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria＞

平常点(出席，クラス参加，グループ作業の成果等)	25%	Viewing on demand lectures and participating in the online discussion board are required.
期末レポート試験・論文	35%	Students will be required to submit a final report on an environmental issue. Details of the assignment will be provided.
小テスト	40%	We will take two non-cumulative tests. Each test will count for 20% of your final grade. Information concerning the structure and materials included will be provided.
