<概要/Course Content Summary>

This seminar is a continuation of Intermediate Seminar 1 and focuses on international relations and comparative politics. The seminar covers the major theoretical and empirical approaches to the scientific study of conflict and cooperation in world politics. Over the course of the semester, students will gain the skills necessary to conduct independent social science research and actively participate in the generation of knowledge.

<到達目標/Goals,Aims>

This course has two main goals. First, students will develop a deeper understanding of the major theories, concepts, and approaches used in the study of international relations. Second, students will develop necessary skills to conduct social science research. At the end of the course, students will be prepared to conduct independent research in social science and have a deeper understanding of major issues in international politics.

<成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria>

平常点(出席,クラス参加,グループ作業の成果等)  60%  Regular attendance and participation is 
vital and will be graded accordingly. I expect that you will come to class having read the material and participate in the discussion by 
asking and answering questions, engaging fellow classmates and myself, and thinking about the course material. 
期末レポート試験・論文  25%  Each student is required to write an description of research progress on a topic of their choosing. 
クラスで発表など  15%  You will be required to make a presentation about your research project. Further Information about the assignment will be provided.

All readings will be available on e-class.
