＜概要/Course Content Summary＞

Students will further develop and deepen their understanding of international development in relation to global issues. This course will place focus on examining case studies while improving both communicative and critical thinking skills. Students enrolled in this course will learn how to create informed opinions, how to be assertive in academic discussions, how to form counter-arguments and strategies for impromptu speaking.

＜到達目標/Goals,Aims＞

The course aims to further introduce students to issues in international development, including health, education, conflict, culture, and the environment. This course also seeks to enhance the English communicative abilities of the students. Students will be expected to keep up with reading assignments, participate in class discussions and make an effort to practice explicit communicative strategies taught throughout the semester. 　
　
By the end of the course, students should be able to analyse while identifying connections between issues in international development and specific case studies. Students will also be able to give an informed opinion, view problems from multiple perspectives, and acquire and use appropriate vocabulary specific to the field of international development.
