＜概要/Course Content Summary＞

Participants of this course explore various social and political phenomena from security perspectives. The first part of this course is to understand security/human security as a frame of analysis in order to apply it in a case study. Participants of this course then pick up one of the given themes in order to undertake a case study from a security/human security perspective. They will present the theme in a particular case and suggest a possible way to handle the problem. Through security analysis, we will be able to understand social and political phenomena from a different angle as well as grasping the traditional discourse of these themes in social science.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to 1) understand how to undertake a security analysis, 2) acquire an alternative approach to security/human security, and 3) grasp how varied social and political phenomena can be understood from security/human security perspectives.
