＜概要/Course Content Summary＞
The expanding engagements of Asia’s major powers such as Japan, China and India with other countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America have recently come under greater scrutiny, but there are different, and often conflicting, accounts about their nature and long-term impacts. The seminar critically reviews the debates about the subject-matter.
＜到達目標/Goals,Aims＞
The seminar series is designed to guide students to comparatively examine the empirical evidence and critically review the divergent perspectives which inform the burgeoning public and intellectual discourse about the activities of Japan, China and India in the Global South. It also seeks to explore the wider implications of the new phenomena from historical and theoretical perspectives by relating them to the dynamics of contemporary international relations.
