<概要/Course Content Summary>

The objective of this seminar is to acquire basic writing skills and research skills that are needed for research paper and thesis writing. In particular,how to write an abstract, to structure sections and chapters, to write topic sentences, and to organize thoughts and ideas as well as how to provide evidences for one's own arguments will be taught.

Three major textbooks will be recommende in the seminar and students are supposed to fully understand those textbooks.

<成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria>

平常点(出席,クラス参加,グループ作業の成果等)  40%  Class Attendance and Students' Active Participation in the Classroom Discussion  
小レポート  20%  Writiing logically and the ability of writing coherently  
中間レポート試験  20%  The capacity to develop one's own arguments 
期末レポート試験・論文  20%  The capacitsy to develop one's ideas and to write coherently  

The evaluation will be made based on the presentations in the class as well as the progress report of the thesis or the research paper.
