＜概要/Course Content Summary＞

The course aims to enhance students' skills in the preparation and writing of academic theses at the MA level. There will be discussion of the basic approach to thesis writing; presenting research in a structured and systematic way; how to incorporate theory and empirical material in thesis writing; and academic conventions regarding referencing, citation and argumentation. The course will be practice-based. Students will have opportunity to discuss their research, how to appropriately frame it, and will get feedback on their academic writing.

＜到達目標/Goals,Aims＞

The aim of the course is to help students improve their skills in the seeking of relevant information, in the critical appraisal of arguments and data, in the development of their own analyses and arguments, and in the dissemination of their findings. They will also learn how to be more effective academic communicators.

Classroom discussions	50%	Practice-based; students present drafts of their written work for discussion and feedback
Presentation and Report	50%	Systematic development of thesis based on drafting and redrafting of chapters

Systematic improvement of writing and argumentation skills; research proficiency enhanced; demonstrating capacity to effectively communicate about research to academic and wider audiences.
