<概要/Course Content Summary>

日本人科学者の弱点は,論文の内容を正確に伝えることができないことである。 
これは,英文論文を執筆する技術の上手下手にもよるが,それ以上に重要なことは,それを相手にいかに伝えるかという,プレゼンテーション技術に長けていないことである。 
本講義では,前期に作成した英文論文をもとに,実際にプレゼンテーションの練習を行うことにより押さえるべきポイントを学ぶ。講師は経験を積んだ,英語を母国語とする外人講師で,科学的なテーマについても豊富な知識を持っており,実用的な英語を通じてプレゼンテーションのやり方を講義する。 
本講義の最終目的は,相手に正確に言いたいことを伝える技術を掴むことであり,最終評価も,実技テストを通じて行う。

An introduction to the course explaining the course outline, grading and what is expected of the students.

Successful presentations need much preparation. There are some important points that you should think about and prepare. This session will focus on these points and give students guidelines on how they can improve their presentations.

How you deliver your presentation will determine whether people think your presentation is a success or a failure. In this lesson we will look at many things that are important for delivering a presentation effectively.

This session will present many useful phrases that are commonly used in an English-language presentation.

It is important to have a good Introduction so that you catch the audience’s attention and they understand what you will be talking about. This lesson focuses on the different kinds of information you should tell the audience at the beginning of your presentation.

The Body is the longest and main part of your presentation where you explain your topic and where all your details are presented. We will look at some key points for organizing and delivering the body of your presentation.

A good Conclusion gives the audience a clear summary of your talk so that they can easily remember the main points of your presentation. This session will focus on the information that is important to have in a good Conclusion.

This session will focus on how to design good, clear and informative visual aids. Both good and bad visual aids will be examined and compared.

This session will give guidelines and useful language you can use to clearly explain the visual aids in your presentation.

This session will provide advice, phrases and techniques for handling the question and answer session at the end of the presentation.

The students will practice their presentations in small groups and give each other feedback on how effective they are.

<成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria>

平常点(宿題,クラス参加,発表,グループ作業の成果等)  50%  評価する。

  The instructor will prepare and distribute study materials to the students each week before class.
