In addition, they will conduct some simple experiments in the classroom and talk and write about these experiments.

<到達目標/Goals,Aims>

The aim of AES1 is to help students develop proficiency in the use of language (vocabulary, grammar, and formulaic expressions) for science. A secondary aim is to help students become more confident in their use of English. This will prepare them for studying AES2 and AES3.
Students will develop the following knowledge, skills, and techniques

Knowledge:
Express numbers, values, and units of measurement
Use the passive voice
Describe procedures, processes, materials, and equipment
Describe an action and its purpose
Introduce a list/process and enumerate its stages
Compare items and describe increases and decreases
Describe cause and effect with appropriate hedging

Skills:
Use English with greater fluency and confidence

Techniques:
Understand how to conduct simple classroom experiments

The small class size gives students the chance to interact with classmates, teaching assistants, and the instructor. It is hoped that this will give students a positive attitude to studying English.
