<概要/Course Content Summary>

This course will introduce you to major issues currently of concern to all investors in global financial markets. The course will have a practical focus on Asian stock markets, although the US stock market will be used as example when illustrating theories and empirical findings. First, you will understand the basic mechanism of financial markets overviewing major players, assets, and conventions. Second, you will understand basic theories of investment analysis. Finally, you will obtain basic skills necessary to implement theories in real financial markets. Throughout this course, students will be equipped with knowledge and skills essential to start investments as a sophisticated individual investor or an investment professional.  
 
In addition, this course will be of great help for students in pursuing the future career in financial markets such as security analyst, portfolio manager, and financial engineer in asset management companies, securities firm, investment bank, and investment advisory company. To pursue these professions, getting the designations of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or the CMA (Chartered Member of The Security Analysts Association of Japan) is essential. 

<到達目標/Goals,Aims>

First, the students are expected to understand the basic theories in stock market, such as portfolio theory, capital asset pricing model (CAPM), efficient market hypothesis, behavioral finance, and empirical tests on stock price behaviors. Second, students should obtain hands-on experience on analyzing stock price behavior in Excel. These exercises will help students better achieve the above-mentioned first goal. Third, students should be able to apply the stock analysis to stocks in Asian stock market.

<成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria>

平常点(出席,クラス参加,グループ作業の成果等)  20%  Class discussion. 
クラスで発表など  30%  Including the group assignments, group stock picking performance and presentation. 
提出物  50%  Individual assignments
