<概要/Course Content Summary>

This course introduces fundamental principles and laws of managing and monitoring a variety of operations, covering manufacturing, services, and retailing. The materials of this course have been successfully used to educate MBAs, Executive MBAs, and even PhD students at top business schools (e.g., Wharton) for more than 10 years. 
This course is designed to deal with real-life operations problems. Most of the sessions of this course discuss real-world operations problems confronted by a specific company. Supplemental cases and assignment problems are used to provide a realistic picture of operations management problems. Equations and model are explained to give students with professional training, but not merely a mathematical intellectual exercise.

<到達目標/Goals,Aims>

The aim of this course is to train business leaders. From this course, students will learn how to kaizen (i.e., improve productivity), increase responsiveness, improve product quality, provide more choice to the customer, and deliver with a shorter time. In other words, students will learn how to analyze operations activities and how to improve them. Along the way, students will master topics such as the Toyota Production System, Six Sigma, Seru system, Service and Retail Operations, Supply Chain, and Product design, will become familiar with concepts about bottlenecks, flows rates, capacity and inventory levels, and waiting lines. The knowledge of this course is important for MBA students’ future business careers.
