<概要/Course Content Summary>
The course introduces students to fundamental concepts from micro- and macroeconomics, along with some applications to real-time economic and business issues. The course aims to facilitate students's understanding of rapidly changing business environments and to develop their analytical skills to identify economics mechanism underlying the economics events or business decision making process. More emphasis will be given to microeconomics theory and its application process to practical business issues Class activities include lectures on textbook materials, review quiz, case studies, and assignment presentations followed by some discussions. In their assignments, students will be asked to read articles from newspaper, blogs, and academic journals, and apply frameworks covered in the class. The course is designed for non-specialist economist in mind. Although there is no prerequisite for this course, students should be confident in understanding basic math and graphical representations along with intuitions behind them. After a successful completion of the course, students are able to: 1.describe fundamental ideas of micro- and macroeconomic theory. 2.evaluate business environment in light of the underlying economics mechanisms. 3.apply the micro- or macroeconomic framework to recent economic/business issues of students’ choice.
