＜概要/Course Content Summary＞

Classes are based on English-language reading assignments chosen by participating members on the first day of class. In general, students typically choose to two books, reading approximately one chapter a week. Each week students are required to complete the assigned reading, write a short response, and be prepared to participate in a lively discussion.

＜到達目標/Goals,Aims＞

Students will learn to "speed read" English texts and discuss the content--typically concerning globalization and education--with confidence. 　
　
本科目では「資料精読能力 (Reading)」と「英語運用能力 (English Competency)」の2技能を目標にする

Typically, weekly reading assignments will take two hours to complete. 　
Class time will be used to discuss the readings, doing so in English and Japanese.　

＜成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria＞

平常点(出席，クラス参加，グループ作業の成果等)  50%  Active participation in discussion with evidence of preparation. Five or more absences will result in automatic failure.
