<概要/Course Content Summary> This is an introductory course in the study of contemporary civic participation, with a specific focus on various democratic forums where citizens engage in political decision-making and policy influence process. In this course, students can learn and examine (1) theories of contemporary political participation, (2) various real-world cases of democratic forums, and (3) basic academic skills (e.g. presentation skills, book review skills). The overall goal of the course is to enable students to understand why and how citizens shape their society through political participation and what makes their participation more effective and democratic. This lecture will be delivered in face-to-face, but the situation could be changed if the current Covid-19 situation gets worse. <成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria>
