Objectives:    
 
This course is to discuss necessary ability and preparations in order to bring success to studying abroad. Its objective is to help students to better understand the unique experience of international education. This course teaches students to avoid misunderstandings and problems that may occur during adjustment to a new culture and a new community. 
Course Content and Methodology:   
Studying abroad gives experiences that can't be gained elsewhere. How to make studying abroad dream a reality? This class clarifies why studying abroad is so important and what are the secrets of academic and personal achievements. It highlights the benefits of studying abroad such as career and foreign language opportunities, academic and personal development. This cause is to let students to know what kind of ability and preparations are necessary in order to bring success to studying abroad.It gives the knowledge of adaptation to the new cultural environment. It helps to prevent the difficulties of social adaptation. 
 
Using videos, photos, figures and tables help students in easing understanding.  
  
This course is based on the data of international educational organizations, sociological survey of studying abroad students, and personal experience of foreign students and studying abroad Japanese students.  
 
All classes of this cause are on-demand (video distribution) type.

Students will obtain knowledge about the merits and benefits from studying abroad. They gain knowledge of necessary ability and preparations for studying in foreign countries.

On-demand (video distribution) type classes. Students can view the videos at their own convenience. Students can ask questions and exchange opinions with teacher by e-mail, skype or zoom.

<成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria>

Summary of each lecture and comments  60%  Students have to write summery of each lecture and comments (about 200 English words) within 5 days after the lecture.  
Homework / Assignments  40%  Two assignments: one is to write an essay "How to overcome culture shock while studying abroad ?" (1000 English words). The second one (total- 1500 English words) is to write an essay on specific features of studying in USA (or other countries -Germany, France, Russia, China) plus to calculate per day expenditures and monthly expenses (in US dollars) in the chosen country and write comment for the calculation. 
Student’s essay should consist of ideas on the given topic and various arguments supporting student’s point of view. Teacher can provide students who need more assistance with outlines of an essay and references.
