＜概要/Course Content Summary＞
この演習は，アジア太平洋地域の政治経済事象を題材にとり，問題の設定，議論の組み立て方など，研究論文を上級生になって執筆する際に必要となる基礎を，日本語と英語で修得することを目的とします。本演習は卒業時に「立派な」研究論文（ゼミ論）をどちらの言語でも書き上げるようになってほしい，との担当教員のささやかな願望の元に設置されます。同じテーマを日英両言語で2回，隔週で取り上げることで，まだ英語での授業に慣れていない学生も対応できるように設定されています（最初は苦労するかもしれませんが，言語は継続が大事です）。日頃皆さんが接する新聞やニュースの記事の理解に役立つように，扱うトピックスも時事性の高いものにしています。しかし，ただ事実関係を知るだけではなく，それぞれの事象における対立点に注目し，誰がどのような政策的見解において，なぜ対立しているかという問題に常に注目してください。異なる視点の理解が多様な国際社会への対応の出発点です。
The seminar is designed to provide students with some of the basic methodological skills and analytical tools for understanding and explaining international political economy in the Asia-Pacific region. This seminar will be conducted in both Japanese and English， alternating both languages every two weeks with the same discussion themes， so that non-bilingual students can take part in and enjoy. The themes will be selected on a topical and critical basis，so that students can gain a better understanding on information provided by news media. Yet，the acquisition of any number of mere facts is not a major purpose，and what is more important is to identify different views and assertions over the chosen topics and examine the reasons behind the difference. This is a way of preparing for the participation in a diversified international society.

1）国際関係論やアジア太平洋問題に関して，専門用語と基礎知識の習得を日英両語で目指す。
2）クラスでの議論に積極的に参加し，異なる意見を尊重しながら，自らの意見を論理的且つ批判的に構築する習慣を身につけることを目指す。
1) Try to get the essential knowledge and jargon surrounding international political economy in the Asia-Pacific region in both Japanese and English languages.
2) Try to acquire communication skills and develop critical thinking through active seminar presentation and discussion， while respecting different views.
