<概要/Course Content Summary> This class will attempt to give students an introduction to Japanese law and the Japanese legal system while also providing them with the knowledge necessary to understand the type of legal issues which arise in the Japanese context. To the extent possible both a "Western" analytical framework as well as explanations based on "Japanese" sources and viewpoints will be used. Students should be prepared to challenge both the professor's opinions and arguments,but those offered by other writers in the readings used. <到達目標/Goals,Aims> The goal of this class is to give students a basic understanding of the way in which the Japanese legal system functions and insights useful in further study in Japanese law or related subjects. <授業計画/Schedule>
The order and speed of coverage may change depending upon progress,student understanding and areas of student interest. Towards the end of the course some content will be determined by student interest and presentations,but this will depend upon the number of students enrolled. <成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria>
Students will be expected to submit graduate-school level writing in their assignments. Any plagiarism detected will result in failure and possible other sanctions. |
