THIS CLASS IS RECOMMENDED ONLY FOR STUDENTS WITH GOOD ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS WHO ARE WILLING TO STUDY VERY HARD. 
*** CLASSES WILL BE CONDUCTED IN ENGLISH USING A CLASS-PARTICIPATION METHOD. ***

In this course students will examine and discuss some of the fundamentals of American law and the American legal systems, such as the common law case system, federalism, the jury system, litigation and trial procedures and legal authorities and sources. The exact topics to be studied will be selected based on the students' interests.

The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to American law, the American legal systems and American culture while giving students a good opportunity to practice and improve their English language skills.

<成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria>

Students will be graded based on an examination, including essays (75%); class participation, preparation, effort and attitude (20%); and attendance (5%).

<テキスト/Textbook>

  There is no textbook for this class. Various materials written in English will be distributed in class. The materials will be provided to the students in advance so they can prepare for each class.
