  MARK RICHARDSON

<概要/Course Content Summary>

This seminar offers a thorough introduction to the poetry and prose of the American poet Robert Frost. We will read all of his books of poetry, a number of his letters and essays, and also selected scholarly articles about him. In the following schedule of readings, all page numbers, unless otherwise indicated, refer to Robert Frost: Collected Poems, Prose and Plays (New York: Library of America, 1995).

<到達目標/Goals,Aims>

This course offers a complete overview of Robert Frost’s career, and also an education in the “close reading” of lyric poetry that should serve students well in all of their graduate studies. We will also consider Frost's place in so-called "modernist" poetry, and the political and philosophical contexts for his writings.
