<概要/Course Content Summary>

This course, an alternative to the regular Speaking A class, will be a challenging, high level English class for the confident Doshisha student. It is a comprehensive, integrative course focusing on developing not only English speaking abilities but also the listening, writing and reading skills needed to engage in formal and informal day-to-day situations without difficulty. Students will discuss and read about current issues relevant to their lives, make short presentations and write on non-technical topics. Eventually students will demonstrate confidence as an English speaker and listener along with the reading and writing skills for comprehensible, standard, English.

At the end of this class, the advanced Doshisha student will show a greater ability to understand and participate in extended conversations and read and write understandable articles and reports in standard English.

<成績評価基準/Evaluation Criteria>

Participation and Attendance  50%  (maximum of five absences) 
Students are encouraged to participate in class activities. 
Presentation, Homework and Quizzes  50%  Quality and content of final presentation, completion of weekly textbook homework assignments, accuracy on quizzes.
