  MARK RICHARDSON

<概要/Course Content Summary>

We will read essays, sketches, and tales by Mark Twain––all of them funny, satirical, and often politically sharp.

Weekly homework assignment: Type up a brief report (100 words or so), outlining your thoughts (and questions) about the week’s reading assignment. Bring this typed report with you to class. All reports will be graded on a pass/fail basis. That is, you need simply do the reading and write the reports (which must clearly pertain to the week’s assignment) in order to get credit. I will keep them as a record of your week-to-week engagement with Twain (and with the course). These reports constitute (in addition to attendance and discussions) one element of class participation.
