<概要/Course Content Summary>

1)This course is designed for students whose TOEFL-ITP scores fall within,or near,the following range:470-520.

2)Our emphasis in this course will be on the following skills(though,to some degree,the course will necessarily engage all skills in English):Listening and Writing.

This class will be conducted completely online. We will use an on-demand, password-protected video system. A typical class will usually follow this style. I will give you an assignment to complete. After you finish it, you will make and upload a video to the system. Other students will be able to watch your video and respond to it with a video of their own. This means you will be able to communicate with each other through your own videos. Also, I will give video lectures. I will provide more information about this system through DUET during the first lesson. There is no need to use a computer. Everything can be done through your smartphone.

The purpose of this course is to improve English listening comprehension,to develop academic reading skills,to provide a deeper understanding of modern culture and society,and to make students more productive by transferring listening skills to skills in speaking and writing. Students will be exposed to and deal with a number of current topics related to culture and society. They will use their English skills to learn deeply about such topics as artificial intelligence, information and communication, health, immigration, and education. We will engage one topic per week.
