<概要/Course Content Summary>
Everything is global. We are all global. Not a day passes without some reference to globalization. Yet what does it all actually mean ? What makes the global economy global ? No business can hope to succeed without a clear understanding of what globalization is all about. There is nothing more dangerous than a keyword that has acquired a life of its own. It casts a spell on people that stops them thinking. The moment the word is uttered, everyone becomes brain dead. Some people believe that we have globalization to thank for everything. Others believe that we have globalization to blame for everything. Sandwiched between the two camps of non-thought, the reality of globalization disappears from view. Inserted throughout the course are a number of classes where we take up the really topical issues of the day to see how we can make sense of them and put them in perspective. These classes come under the title of“Feeling the wind”. Other classes will focus on the main structures and players that make the global economy go round, and the how and the why of our journey towards where we are today.

This course aims to remedy the situation and seek out the true shape of the global economy. Winston Churchill once said: “The further backward you look, the further forward you can see.”How true. In keeping with this spirit, this course attempts to put the global age into historical perspective so that we may become able to understand today and to see forward into tomorrow.
